Top dive sites are centered on the numerous small islands just outside the bay here in Potereo. The chain known as the Catalinas are nearby, directly offshore. These islands are essentially volcanic pinnacles rising from the depths and offer a great opportunity to witness some large marine life.
Mantas, eagle rays, humpbacks, whale sharks and black tip sharks are common in these waters, although the season varies. The visibility varies considerably from month to month, however the opportunity to witness these leviathans up close make any dive trip worthwhile.
There are several local diving operations in the Potrero Beach area, operating from the marina in Flamingo. Although the Flamingo Marina is closed for renovation, dive operations are still running, tendering from shore to dive boats anchored in the bay from the south end of Potrero Beach.
